Anybody know much about them? I saw this plane (N69741) in SJU 2 weeks ago, and had never heard of them. How long have they been around?

Planet Airways is a charter airline from FLL, they have a fleet of 727-100's and 727-200's the exact amount they have of each I don't know. I don't know what they were doing in San Juan the day you saw them but during the summer they operate charters from San Juan to the Dominican Republic and Orlando.

I believe I justed posted on this within the past few days. I'll retype it.

Planet Airways operates a fleet of 5 727-200's and 1 727-100

N1910 727-023 09/09/66 (Former AA)
N69741 727-224 11/18/80 (Former CO)
N69742 727-224 12/09/80 (Former CO)
N79745 727-224 05/21/81 (Former CO)
N893AA 727-223 08/07/80 (Former AA)
N894AA 727-223 08/22/80 (Former AA)

The later 2, N893AA & N894AA were just recently acquired, just within the past few months. N893AA & N894AA were retired from American on November 1st, so these are new to Planet Airways.

Planet Airways is solely a charter operation. Last fall, they provided sports charter service for the Penn State football team when they traveled to away games.

On 3/2 I saw a Planet Airways 727-200 going from EWR-Nassau in the Bahamas. It was a spring break charter. Delta was the handling agent for the flight.

Yeah I'd imagine they did a lot of spring break charters along with Champion and USA3000.

They used to be at FLL, thats where their founders are from. Impressive website at:
