737's, Which Versions Are Still Produced?

Sat Apr 13, 2002 12:25 pm

i know that the 737-200's has went out of production, but how about the other versions? what versions are still in production? plus is it true that Lufthansa was the launch customer for the 737-200? that would be strange to me as Lufthansa is not an american airline company.

Boeing still produces the 737-600/700/800/900 variants. Production of the 737-300/400/500 ended shortly after the Next Generation 737s went into production.

Lufthansa first flew the B737-100 in February of '68.

Lufthansa was the launch customer for the 737.

Dash 100s were ordered by only Malaysia-Singapore (5), Lufthansa (25, 2 not built) and AVIANCA (2). LN 1 was never delivered to LH, instead serving as a test aircraft with Boeing until being sold to NASA in 1973.

I believe America West kept a 737-100 on property for some time - it was used mostly for sports charters.

several dash100s flew for United and Continental as well. I fact, some of them flew long enough to wear the red-gold (CO) and the red-blue-yellow (UA) colours of those airlines into the mid-80s.

To get the whole picture:

select B737 and status 'not yet delivered'.
You can also see all 737-100 history (sort by delivery, display previous regs, you will get pictures clicking on a last previous reg):

United never operated any 737-100s.

THe -100 was in CO's fleet long enough to get the white paint scheme, in fact I believe they flew until the mid to late 90's.

Hamad,
An airline doesn't have to be American to be a launch customer for a Boeing (or any other) aircraft.  Smile

The last 737-100s in service were with Aero Continente in Peru - I think that they have been retired now though. Only NG models are presently in production.
