United At Your Airport, How Many Flights

Sun Apr 14, 2002 7:07 am

I have done this for AA, DL, WN, so what the heck, lets do UA now.

How many flights (departures) from your home town airport does United have including express? Which cities do they serve and how many daily flights to each city. How many gates do they use? And what aircraft do they use to each city? Thanks

From Hartford (BDL)- 2 gates, A2 and A4

Daily to

ORD- 8 departures (1 757, 3 A320, 3 737, 1 CRJ)
IAD- 3 departures (1 737, 3 CRJ)
DEN- 1 SAT only A320 (Use to be daily pre 9-11_

11 daily weekday departures

SFO is rumored to be coming back, it was a daily A319/320 pre 9-11.

Note-

United will be temporarily moving into BDL's new concourse this August while the current Terminal A tarmac is being graded and the concourse is being renovated.

This winter they were scheduled to do a weekly DEN-SJU flight but due to 9-11 that did not happen. And in the past United also had a daily 737 nonstop MIA-SJU flight.

UA no longer serves POS, Trinidad. They served it between 1992-4. The daily flights to MIA stopped in CCS and at peak periods there were also non-stops to JFK as UA competed with AA and BW for US business from Trinidad. UA, whose services replaced Pan Am's, pulled out in December 1994, citing low profitability.

There are roughly 100 or so United Express departures on Skywest and Air Wisconsin.

Denver sees every United aircraft type.

COS:

Colorado Springs recieves a mix of United mainline aircraft and United Express aircraft.

Colorado Springs recieves Dornier 328s, CRJs, BAe 146-300s, 737-300s, and A320s from United.

United Airlines is the largest carrier in COS.

DEN - 11 (4 on Dornier 328s, 3 on BAe 146s, 4 on 737-300. Frequency increases during the summer and winter time)
ORD - 2 (1 737-300, 1 A320)

Actually, UA 806 is HKG-SFO--one of UA's most popular international flights.

As for UA flights out of SFO, it'll take way too long to list since SFO is UA's third-largest hub after ORD and DEN. SFO is where most of UA's 747-400 fleet operates from, too.

United has a fair size operation here at Cleveland.

CLE to ORD (8x daily)
1 CRJ (Op by United Express/Atlantic Coast)
1 757-200
2 737-300's
2 737-500's
2 A320's

CLE-IAD (4x daily)
1 CRJ (Op by United Express/Atlantic Coast)
3 J41 Turboprop's (Op by United Express/Atlantic Coast)

CLE-DEN (2x daily)
2 757-200's

United's operations into Cleveland are about the same.

ORD-CLE (8x daily)
1 CRJ (Op by United Express/Atlantic Coast)
1 A320
2 737-300's
2 737-500's
2 757-200's

IAD-CLE (4x daily)
1 CRJ (Op by United Express/Atlantic Coast)
3 J41 Turboprop's (Op by United Express/Atlantic Coast)

DEN-CLE (2x daily(
1 A320
1 757-200

United used to have a much larger presence at CLE. They used to have daily ORD-CLE-ORD flights on DC-10's and 767-300's and a few more 757's. There IAD flights used to be promoted as "...non-stop jet service to Washington's Dulles Airport on new Canadair Regional Jets, six times a day." Now, as you can see, only operated four times a day and most on turboprops. ORD service was downgraded to some more 737-500's, however also with that came the return of the 757 to CLE. DEN service has also picked up with mostly 757's and A320's. I hope UA will once again be able to operated a daily 767-300 on the ORD flights, but I don't see it in the future. There used to be rumors that an LAX service would be started on an A319/A320 in the not-so-distant future. I am sure that all but ended on September 11. Who knows, maybe down the road. Travel safe.....

I don't know the actual numbers, but in the New York market, United is the smallest of the big three carriers in scale and scope of operations, but it does have a very sizeable chunk of the transcon market and flights to major international destinations:

JFK
Nonstop to LHR (pre 9/11, three daily, including one 777), NRT, GRU, EZE, SEA, LAX, SFO, BOS, and SJU (week-end only).

Aircraft: B777, B767-200, B767-300ER, A320, B737-500 (for the Boston route), and the B757 to SJU.

EWR
Nonstop to LAX, SFO, DEN, ORD, MIA, IAD and London/Heathrow.

Aircraft: B777, B767-200, B757, A320, A319, B737-300/500, turboprops for some United Express markets.

LGA
Nonstop to ORD (hourly), DEN, IAD (hourly), and MIA.
CRJ, A320, A319, B757, B737-300/500

HPN
Nonstop to IAD and ORD

Vywh said,

UA from HKG -

UA 896 to LGA

Imagine landing a full B747-400 at La Guardia, we'd better hope the passengers know how to swim! Man, sometimes landing a B767-300 there is scary, let alone a 744...crikey...

And take-off with the B747-400 to HKG, hmm...the plane would only get to about V1 minus 50 kts fully loaded by the end of the runway considering it will go out at MTOW.

"Ladies and gentlemen, on behalf of my flying partners, let me be the first to welcome you to the airport by the bay. We know you have a choice of carriers to meet your air travel needs, and do appreciate your choosing of the friendly skies."

UNITED'S SAN FRANCISCO HUB
service details for Summer 2002

Facts:
  • 3rd largest hub in terms of flight #'s
  • 1st largest hub in terms of revenues generated
  • Home of the two largest Red Carpet Clubs, both very new
  • Largest international pax count

    Operations:
  • United Airlines operates out of 37 gates in terminal 3 and the international terminal.
  • United Airlines operates out of Terminal 3's 9 close-in gates, 4 Thumb gates, 11 concourse F gates, and out of the international Terminal's 13 concourse G gates.
  • Due to the consolidation of hub-bank flying after 09/11, United Airlines is constrained for gate space. Many G concourse gates are now used for domestic operations, at a considerable premium cost to United.
  • United Express operates out of a commuter terminal with 13 parking positions accessible by shuttle bus from Gate 87A. It also operates CRJ flights out of Gate 78 (new!) with 2 parking positions.

Domestic Large Aircraft Service -- United flies a ridiculous amount of heavies in/out of SFO:
  • 757 flights out of nearly all capable gates to 2/3 of destinations. (at least 42 departing daily flights).
  • 767-200/300 2/3 class operations out of 10 F gates to: HNL, OGG, KOA, JFK, DEN, ORD, IAD, BOS (at least 20 departing daily flights).
  • 777 2/3 class ops out of 5 capable F gates a select G gates to: HNL, DEN, ORD, IAD, MIA (at least 10 departing daily flights).
  • 747-400 service out of 4 capable F gates to: DEN, ORD (3 daily departing flights, with additional frequencies when 777s are occassionally swapped).

    International Service:
  • LHR 2 Daily 777 w/continuing service to AMS and BRU
  • CDG 1 Daily 777
  • FRA 1 Daily 777
  • LHR 2 Daily 777
  • YVR 2 Daily 735/A320
  • YYC 2 Daily A320
  • MEX 1 Daily A320
    GATEWAY TO THE PACIFIC RIM
  • NRT 2 Daily 744
  • KIX Daily 744
  • PVG Daily 744
  • HKG Daily 744
  • TPE Daily 777
  • SYD->MEL Daily 744
    Previous Services

  • SFO-NRT 3rd Daily
  • SFO-LHR 3rd Daily
  • SFO-HKG 2nd Daily

    Future Service:
  • Expect SFO-BDL to be added only if SFO-AUS is reinstated

    Let me see,

At IAD for ACA(UAX) the great company for whom I work for we are at 220 flights a day. ORD we operate a little over 100 a day. And at JAX where I work.

    ORD-4x
    IAD- 4x

hopefully to go to 6 flts to ORD and 5 to IAD.
    I Don't know where I am anymore
