Hi Max,Unfortunatelly I don't have any written documents to send you but I know that there are some institutes which prepares the candidates for this exam as I heard in Hamburg.I dont know the exact address but I am sure you can have better information from DLR itself about this.I can tell you about my experience though. The process begins with a series of tests which are done in a classroom, you fillout atest about your physicolgical situations, then the ones who pass this test continues to physco motor test infront of a computer, then an interview and after that (in our case) the medical exam.whole thing took two days.
First with the tests its all about timing. There were couple of different tests some were given 8 minutes,15 minutes etc.I remember "dice rotation test"On the paper you are given a picture of a dice.Lets say 3 is written on the upper side. From the speaker a voice tells you to rotate the dice from your mind,it says "turn the dice leftnow some other number is up.voice says again turn thedice down.so you imagine where is number 3 is now.he keeps reading left, right down etc,you keep imagining the position of the starting number.finally when it says finish you choose on the answer sheet which position is your starting number. At first voice is very slow and few commands. Then it keeps getting faster and tricky. Finally it reads so fast that you can't even follow it.This is one of the many tests. There was a math and a physic exam too but they were simple arithmatic questions you have to do from your mind like taking square roots of some numbers etc. There is a written English grammar test. And plane rotation test again from your mind you try tofind the last position of an airplane figure related to other airplane figures. You turn it left,up,down etc and finally choose on the answer sheet the airplane is left of the other plane.I know its hard to imagine from this explanations.Thats why I strongly recomend you get a copy test explanations from DLR center. There in explains these tests with simple examples. After these tests the physicological test.In this test make sure you answer them truly and the same answer always. They ask you a question and ask it again 50 questions later with a different way.You have to answer them the same way.For example they ask "do you like helping people? you say yes, then later they ask if an old lady asks you to cross her to other side of the street would you take her? if you say no to that one the physicologhists will find something about your personality and ask it in your interview. After this personality test you go to physico motor test infront of a PC screen.Looks like a simple heads up display on the screen a bar on the left a bar on the right and a (+) in the middle of a circle.you have two control joystic like controls and 4 buttons instead of a keyboard. At first you try to keep the + in the circle, the + tends to escape out of it but you fly it back like you do in the airplane needs steady small corrections. Then the left side bar comesit moves up and down, you control it with the other joystic but this time it work opposite. You move the josytic down it goes up,vice versa so you try to center the + in the circle and at the same time try to keep the bar in the center you have limits if you exceed you fail. Then on one side of the screen appears some mathematical questions. In 2 or 3 seconds it appears it disappears. So you have to press the buttons in front of you quickly as you see and answer the math question but when you leave the joystic from your hand to psh the answer button this time the + or the bar goes out of centered you have to be very quick back to hold and give the correct corrective action to keep it centered. And while all these are happening a physicolog stands next to you watches your actions takes notes and asks you questions.Pretty freaky. But not imposibble to do.Then all these notes are added up you go for an interview they tell you why they can or can not work with you.If they say Ok you go to first class medical check.Thats it how they did it to us.Again I strongly recommend you to take more information about this from DLR center.Because if you fail you are not allowed to take it again for the next 2 years I guess.Hope I can help at least a little bit.Good Luck on the test.WING
