McDonnell Douglas - MD-80 V.s SP-80

What is the difference between a regular MD-80 and a Super 80? I see that AA used the Super 80, but I've seen no other airline use them.

Super 80 is what AA calls their MD-80s. There's no difference.

When American first acquired the MD-80, it was still marketed as the DC-9 Super 80 (and its type certificate is still DC-9-80), so AA called them Super 80's. Later, McDonnell Douglas changed the marketing name to MD-80.

Thanks guys, I guess the answer was more simple then I thought.
