Interesting pic.

Are they going to leave it that way and fly to Asian cities, or SWISS going to replace the chinese word on winglet and the tail with the famouse Swiss' Cross sign?

Hello,

When the aircraft is repainted, the Chineese symbol for luck will be replaced by the boring Swiss Cross. SWISS won't be flying to Taiwan.

Perhaps leave it like that and fly to Hong Kong or Beijing?

Nope there will be no Swiss Asia. It will be replaced by the cross as Teahan said.

They only needed Swissair Asia because they flew to Beijing AND Taiwan. Swiss only flies to Beijing, therefore they don't need a "second" airline. This aircraft will also be painted in Swiss colours.

Swissair Asia's purpose was flying to Taiwan only, not Beijing.

I guess it would be familiar to Chinese if Swiss flies the colour (shown above) to HKG and PEK.

These were political reasons. The Chinese (Beijing) do not accept Taiwan as an independent country. That is why they did not like when airlines flew to Taiwan. That is the reason that many European airlines (including e.g. Swissair, KLM) founded these "Asia" airlines. Swissair flew with its two Asia MD 11 to Taiwan and to other countries but not to Beijing. Once I even saw a Swissair Asia at JFK.

SFO got swissair asia a couple of times. One of my SFO-ZRH flt's was on HB-IWT which had swissair asia titles.

The writing on the tail of the Swiss Asia planes has nothing to do with "luck" in the Chinese language. It is merely the abbreviated form of the Chinese name for Switzerland.

I had the impression that only HB-IWG and HB-IWN had SwissAir Asia titles, not HB-IWT.
