Change Of Aircraft For Only A Day

Mon Apr 15, 2002 9:27 pm

ok.. actually it is not a problem if a airline fly regularly with for example a B767 to a certain place.. 1 day, the airline changed the aircraft, lets say from B767 to a MD11, how are the pilots going to fly the aircraft back?(since they cant do a MD 11 and a B767). do they do 2 trips to and fro? lets say it is a 2 hrs flight only.. or the other way to fly the return trip pilot on the flight so tt they can fly the plane back with the pilots who did the first run?

juz a thought

As I know, there are serveral ways:

Firstly case, for a short haul flight (e.g. 2 hours) return on the same day, they may just be the same pair of pilots..

Second case, if it's a long haul, the B767 pilots may fly the MD-11 back to the origin. They may seat at cabin.

Or sometimes, they may fly by other airlines to a destination that have B767 flights go back and fly on that route.

There maybe more cases..

Hope this help.
