CO9981 BFI-MCO

Tue Apr 16, 2002 6:57 am

Just checked flight explorer, and it showed a CO 739 inflight from BFI to MCO. Now...if this is a delivery, why is it coming to MCO? Wouldn't a delievery happen at their hub? Any of the CO guys have info on this one? Thanks.

We have a large MX operation there, but I suspect it is a reposition for a revenue flight.

My guess it is replacing an airplane going into a MX check.

In March '94 I was on vacation in Orlando and at the Airport were a line of CO's first 737-500s being readied for service, this was a month or so before they began scheduled services with CO.

Many CO delivery flights go to the MCO MX base prior to entering revenue service. 739s and 753s have been going there regularly all year.

If it's flying right from BFI to any CO destination, it's not ready for scheduled service yet. It usually will under go some checks and even some modifications, from what I've heard before. It'll probably be in service in about a month.

That was Ship 412 on it's delivery flight from Boeing. MCO MX has been doing the introduction work on most (if not all) new 738/739/753 aircraft. It won't take a month to get it ready for service....more like seven to ten days max. On the revised delivery schedule, this will be the last 737 CO should receive for more then a year.
