Qatar Airways And Lufthansa (Star Alliance)

Tue Apr 16, 2002 10:11 pm

Qatar Airways in the recent weeks expanded thier codeshare agreement with Lufthansa to include more European destinations. The CEO of Qatar Airways in a press conference made earlier this year said that Qatar Airways will go into a deeper relationship with Lufthansa hinting that the MUC-DOH LH codeshares on Qatar Airways might resume. The CEO has said that Qatar Airways is currently in discussions to enter a major alliance within 2 years.
Also Qmiles http://www.qmiles.com the Frequent Flyer Program of Qatar Airways also lists BMI and Lufthansa as partners in the program, both being star alliance airlines.

Lusthansa's website used to list Qatar Airways as a partner airline. The strange thing is that Qatar Airways is no longer listed as a partner airline. In fact it is not mentioned at all on the website.

Anyone know why Qatar Airways is no longer listed?
Also anyone know when Lufthansa will resume the MUC-DOH codeshares or if they plan to serve DOH?

Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Qatar

I noted in Amadeus CRS that QR will start flying FRA-DOH in winter 02 schedule, four times a week with the A300-600. No codeshare though so far...

That is true. They are awaiting approval to fly daily to both MUC and FRA as soon as possible. Qatar Airways have recently codeshared on Lufthansas flights out MUC to:

Hanover
Duseldorf
Frankfurt
Berlin
Dresden
Zurich
Milan
Geneva
Rome
Sotckhom
Oslo
Manchester
Amsterdam

The MAN and ZRH codeshares started a few years ago all the rest are new.

What is puzzling is that they have increased the codeshare. Lufthansa is now on Qmiles, the FF program of QR and QR should enter star soon yet Qatar Airways' listing as a partner of Lufthansa has been removed.
