Defunct Airlines

Sat Apr 20, 2002 7:12 am

Why is it that when an airline goes bankrupt it seems as if it disappears from the phase of the earth. If you conduct an Internet search for airlines such as Carnival Airlines, Air South, Kiwi, Pan am, and Eastern it is almost (not to say impossible) to find their route maps, seat maps, timetables as well as general (but specific) information. DO you know of any site that has these airlines and other defunct airlines memorabilia? I would like to start a defunct airline homepage, but I really need to find the timetables, route maps, and seat maps (as well as all other information) on the airlines above and all other defunct. Can you please help me?

Thank you for your help and time

e*bay has a LOT of this kind of stuff. In fact, there are sub-categories for the major airlines, including defunct major airlines.

If you go there, just type in, for instance 'Pan Am' in the general search space...

You should have a look at AirNikon's webages of defunct airlines, which feature many of his photographs. In addition to that, I've seen some good sites for PSA and Air Cal. I think the PSA site is

Here are the ones I know about, some of them already mentioned.

Trans Texas/Texas International

Braniff International

Frontier Airlines

National Airlines

Ozark Airlines

(For some reason the main page for the above site doesn't have links to the other pages, but if you click on the above link and scroll to the bottom, there are links to other pages of that website, like Ozark in the 70's, 60's, etc.)
