Lets Have Some Fun

Mon Apr 22, 2002 10:46 am

ok, here is a game a buddy and i play at work when we get bored.

we play the usual quess the city code, but here is one that would be fun if you guys would try. it was a real stumper.

ok, starting is brisbane(bne) you have to try and get to new york city in 5 flights or less and only using 737's.that could be LGA OR JFK

example: get from phx to fra only using 747's
BA PHX-LGW OR LHR
THEN MAYBE LH TO FRA
THAT WAS JUST AN EXAMPLE.

ok get started and goodluck. i know it's a stupid game but it passes the time quit well.

As an alternative, you could also play the same game flying the circumference of the world, landing at least once in each continent (except Antarctica).

Using only 737s? Sheesh...

My guess would be:

Qantas 157 BNE-CNS --- 73H
Continental 903 CNS-GUM -- 737-800
Continental 956 GUM-HNL -- 737-800 (the "Island Hopper")
Aloha Airlines 442 HNL-LAS -- 737-700
Continental 569 LAS-EWR -- 737-800

If you don't count EWR as a New York airport, then (I'm running out of time, can anyone else do it?)

Get from SIN to New York on narrowbodies. For that matter, get from East Asia to New York on narrowbodies!

The only way i can think of is take a GA 737 to Jakarta, and are there narrow bodies from Jakarta to Australia? cos once we get into Australia all we need to do is get to CNS then we can follow Redngold's itinerary!

SIN-NYC on narrowbodies is easy, at least, once in you're in Europe (Icelandair across the pond). Maybe next time I go to Sydney (from London) I should try and do the whole thing on 737s. Prove all you guys wrong about widebodies being more comfortable (surely all that matters is the size of the seat) and all that nonsense about IFE.

Docpepz,

Could go SIN-DRW in BI via BWN (both legs: 757), then on QF DRW-CNS (734 or 146, even) and then on to GUM with CO and so on...

As Cederjet pointed out, could fly through Europe too. CO also serve Europe with 757s (eg. SNN-EWR).

ok here is the answer,

i bet a lot of you got it but here it is.

air pacific from BNE-NAN(nadi fiji) 737G
air pacific from NAN-HNL 737G
aloha from HNL-SNA 737G
continental from SNA-LGA 737G
(NOTE CONTINENTAL FLIGHT MAKES ONE STOP IN IAH BUT CONTINUES ON TO LGA, SAME PLANE AND FLIGHT NUMBER.)

Umm Britair,

Air Pacifics 737s don't go all the way to Vancouver, in fact I wonder if a 737-800 could actually do Nadi-Vancouver non- stop.
I just did a search on their site and all the results I got for that route were Nadi-Los Angeles on a 747-200 transferring to American, Canadian or United to Vancouver.  Smile

Maybe you should look again.....FJ820 operates Nadi-Honolulu-Vancouver and IS a 737-800. It operates Friday and Sunday every week.

Gee, i thought this was supposed to be fun  Sad

I was sort of expecting an answer like that, LOL! Big grin
Well I'd better have a word to their webmaster then because when I did a search, that's what it gave me, Nadi-LAX-YVR.
Naturally we'd expect the latest info to come out of their own website.
But I'll do another search.

How about Hong Kong to Singapore on a narrowbody. Only allowed to travel in Southeast Asia and there are three flights.

HKG-SIN on a narrowbody - too easy:

HKG-BKI: MH 734 or KA 320
BKI-SIN: MH 734
or
HKG-BWN: BI 757
BWN-SIN: BI 757
or
HKG-HAN: VN 321
HAN-SIN: VN 321
or
HKG-PNH: KA 320
PNH-SIN: MI 320
or
HKG-CAN: CZ 320
CAN-SIN: CZ 757
or
HKG-HKT: KA 320
HKT-SIN: MI 320 or 319

I am sure there are others too...
