Which Singapore 772's Have First Class?

Wed Apr 24, 2002 6:56 pm

Hey Guys,

I am interested in which SQ 772's have first class in them due to the fact that there is a rumour that SQ may fly the 772 to Auckland. I am guessing that they would fly the ones with First Class seats in them.
So which ones will it be, the
9V-SQx series
9V-SRx series
9V-SVx series

If the 772's come to AKL I understand that they will fly double daily replacing the current daily 744. SQ is doing very well on this route!

I love the Megatops, its good that we now get Sky Suites so rather than seeing just the older aircraft we see different ones all the time.

Anybody?

Scott.  Smile

Hi Scott,

Only the 9V-SQx series have first class. It is not an ER and it would not be able to fly to AKL. Most likely it would be the 9V-SVx series, the ERs, would do the route. the SVs are configured in a 2 class configuration.

Cheers!

Cheers Guys!! I would have thought First would have been offered but if its not available I guess they can't fly those aircraft here! Then I guess it would be the 9V-SVx series then!

A B777-200 cannot fly a 8410km (SIN-AKL) route? Seriously?

I saw 9V-SQC at SYD late last year when SQ were operating the 4th flight to Sydney, So these a/c can definitely fly SIN-SYD.

What makes the most sense would be a double daily service with NZ 763 flying a nighttime AKL-SIN and daytime SIN-AKL return service and SQ flying the current SQ285/286 744 flights. This makes the most sense, assuming NZ survives.

Don't forget that while SQ flights to AKL may be full, it is still a low-yield route. I think their breakeven load factor would be in the 80s ... I recall it being in the low 90s in the mid-1990s. I won't be surprised if they got rid of First Class on the route.

Out of curiosity.... I note that there are more (or as many?) 9VSR_ series a/c than 9VSQ_ series a/c...

Can anyone tell me where the two-class 9VSR_ a/c are scheduled fly to, apart from ADL, BNE, FUK, HIJ and NGO?

The 9V-SQx series have an MTOW of 251tons, so that puts them at a max range of around 10000km. I'm pretty sure they're capable of doing SIN-AKL...

Whether they will put 2x 772s on a 1x 744 route will be left to be seen.

I'm just waiting for JNB to be changed to a 772.
