Best Seat For A AA 777

Thu Apr 25, 2002 8:11 am

While on the topic of AA 777s, what's the best seat for a transoceanic flight? Some factors to consider may be elbow room and has the least noise.

As for noise, I would probably suggest right over the wings, as the wing tends to block the noise from going up(this is for most aircraft, not just 777). As for elbow room, I would probably suggest an aisle.

I agree with Blink. Right over the wing is great -- also, that is the area you will experience the least jolt should there be any turbulence... unless you are on the 737-800, then the turbulence is everywhere!

The first coach seat behind the crew rests in the front of economy. (Either seats A/B on the right or H/J on the left. I believe its row 21 or 23) Right over the wing, and you have about 3 feet of legroom because of the crew rests in front. Flew on these seats from DFW-ZRH-DFW. VERY nice.

I agree with Ual747 with the first seat behind the crew rests in the very from of coach. I had this seat on the way back from Paris over spring break and it was great. Very few people walking around buggying you, very smooth ride (over the wings). If you're at the bulkhead the entertainment controls are set on an angle in the armrest so the person next to you doesn't keep bumping it. The only problem with the bulkhead, if you're tall like me, you can't stretch your legs completely because you can't stretch them under the seat in front of you.

If you can't ge the seat that ual747 is offering, i recomend 21J. I had this one when i flew JFK-LHR and i found it very very good. There was very little noise, and the turbulence was slim to none. Also, it was easy for getting off the plane later and it was a good spot because i was served i think 5th or 6th and they had my choice of meal  Big thumbs up. Whatever you do, don't sit in the middle section, i hated that.
