I just think it feels so starnge.
NWA has opperated the DC10 (in this case -40, since the -30 has some more time left) much longer than other main airlines, and for me the DC10 and the DC9 are the trademarks for NWA and what makes them so special (great in mye eyes). Suddenly things are changing, and the DC10 are leaving for good. In mye eyes you can't find a replacement for such a beauty bird. So since we now are given an exact date fro the retirement of the -40 I feel sad ;(
I have always liked, and always loved nwa fro its old, but still very beautyful fleet. No when the (in my eyes boring) A330 is taking over flights to europe, i can't find very good reasons to fly NWA. Offcourse they have good service, and a nie livery, but service isn't everything if the plane is boring. Than i rather try another airline (if i can't get a nwa 742
Luckily the good old dc9 are stying fro atlest some years to come, hopefully together with some dc10-30 before the new 330 fleet is completed.
Asking what i meant with this post?
well, I don't know. But honestly I would like to know if somebody else have discovered, or are feeling that with the retierment of the 10 and later the 9 the old nwa we old knowed are going, leaving us a new and " unknown" airline with only new aircrafts. (maybe going from oldest to newest fleet in only a few years. maybe a great job, but in my eyes a very sad job)
BTW: anybody who have some ideas about wich routes the NW B727 will be used on for the last time?
