New Airline: Air Astana

Hi everybody,

Air Astana from Kazakhstan has received its first Boeing 737-800:


According to its website at http://www.air-astana.kz the airline will operate domestic services within Kazakhstan. Its fleet is expected to consist of three Boeing 737-700/-800 leased from ILFC.

They also flew a BAC 1-11 leased/bought from Tarom. (The airlines name was Astanair Kazakhstan)

Astanair has no relationship to Air Astana.

Air Astana has been formed with the help of BAe and is based in Astana. Astanair was based in Almaty and used BAC-111s leased from JARO.

Air Astana, the new airline, was only formed as a company last year.
