PRC Airspace

Tue Apr 30, 2002 5:29 am

Was CI Airlines baned from flying over PRC airspace. I went to HK in 1989. Did our plane have to divert south from Anchorage to Japan then to HK? Maybe thats why it took so long.

Also why is Cuba not allowed to overfly US airspace?

Cubana Over US

Tue Apr 30, 2002 8:12 am

In the past, at least, Cubana TU154s/IL62s/A320s flew over New York on their way to Montreal. Don't they still?

Yes, CI is banned from PRC airspace, and so is BR and other Taiwan carriers.

Yes, Cuban planes can fly US airspace, but they are restricted to one specific air corridor and routing that doesn't go near any military installations.
