Cheapest Place To Go For The Summer From...

Tue Apr 30, 2002 9:56 am

Hello!

Well, as always, I am planning our family's vacation. Where can we go if our budget is around $2,500.00? We don't care where it is. We can depart from anywhere in Southern California. All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How many people are kids/adults are going, what is your prefered departure airport, and what are some dates? If you tell me I can find some options for you to New York City a great destination.

Bigo747, well sorry for the post after yours i posted it and a few seconds after you posted yours. Anyway, I checked some options for you to come to New York City. It is a great place to visit. I checked some flights from you from LAX-EWR and the for the three of you it would be about $1005.00 on American Departing June 27-June 30. In New York I looked at a hotel room at the New York Marriot Marquis. It is a little steep but trust me the location more than makes up for it. Trust me when I say it has the best location in the city and a lot of pull to as well if you need broadway show tickets or dinner reservations. It is $260.00 a night per tax right now but it could go down and I would be willing to call the hotel directly. Sometimes they offer less expensive rates. So about 1005 + 260*3=about $1850 maybe a little more with taxes at the hotel. It is only 3 days 4 nights but trust me the location is great. NYC can be expensive so I think it will be a little close to your budget maybe a little over. If you need me to do more please give me your email and I will respond.

I just recently bought tickets out of LAX to Sydney for $799 r/t. I believe Qantas' regular airfare right now is $806 r/t. That's $1812 + tax r/t for you... and I believe a child is free pending certain restraints. Try Sydney!

Was just looking at southwest.com and while you didn't say the age of the child, a trip the Washington DC can be a lot of fun with all the museums (National Air & Space Museum as well as Museum of Natural History are two of my favorites).

Right now I see SAN-BWI round trip for 3 can be as low as $784. (two go "friends fly free" and one goes on a 14 day special promotional fare)

I would suggest Cuba but I don't think your wife would like all of those beautiful Cuban ladies coming up to you offering favors.  Big grin
Your $2,500 would go very far there.

Canada would be a great affordable get away.
With the current exchange rate, your $2,500 would be about $4,200 in Canadian dollars.
Montreal and Toronto are also great for spotting too.  Smokin cool
