PAL Returns To Guangzhou After 17yrs.

Tue Apr 30, 2002 1:38 pm

Philippine Airlines (PAL) is returning to Guangzhou in China next month after a 17-year hiatus with weekly charter services. The carrier says flights will operate weekly, linking Subic Bay in the Philippines with the southern Chinese city via Manila.

Flights will be operated in partnership with Subic-based Legend International Resorts and Casinos. A Boeing 737-300 will be used, able to carry 148 passengers in an all-economy class configuration.

PAL already operates scheduled services to the Chinese cities of Shanghai and Xiamen, as well as regular charter services to Shenzhen near Hong Kong. It served Guangzhou between 1979 and 1985

And the Air Philippines will be coming in this Sunday to HKG at about 6pm - B737-300 apparently, so it must be one of the aircraft leased from PAL.
Should be one a week for the foreseeable future.

Good news for PAL! I hope this is a successful route and opens up more possibilities for them.
Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!

This is Great For PAL. With PAL Probloly Being the 1st or 2nd International Airline in China (besides Shanghai and Hong Kong Of Course) It Will boost their Presence and Should be profitable since They're Are only A couple of International Airlines in Ghangzhou (including NWA i think ????)

Long Live PAL!

Singapore, and Asiana fly into Guangzhou. JAS did as well for while. BA said that they aimed to fly there, although things have probably changed by now.
