Anyone Been To SEL, ICN Or Cju?

Tue Apr 30, 2002 11:15 pm

hi
has anyone been to Seoul-Kimpo/Incheon or Jeju? I'm just wondering how much people have been to my home airport Big grin
and if so, what did you see there?

The biggest mistake made by most human beings: Listening to only half, understanding just a quarter and telling double.

I travled through Kimpo twice. Once in transit from FUK-BKK-FUK and a second time fro FUK-SEL. It was okay. I also went through Pusan Kimhae airport. It was also okay.

I would like to see ICN sometime. I would live to visit Seoul again.

Hello, Hoons90,
Anyong hashimnika.

I used to live in SEL as a teenager, over 20 years ago.
Back then the hottest thing coming was "The New Terminal" at SEL (now T1 at GMP)!

When I went back there (only once, unfortunately) in 1997 - on a LH 744 - both the then T1 and T2 were looking rather old and tired.

I would love to see ICN asap. But I must say that when I mailed and wrote (by post) to the authority operating the new airport, I never received a reply.
But their web pages -www.airport.or.kr -are quite detailed, so I surf them every now and then as their photo gallery seems to grow.

No expericence with PUS or CJU.

Greetings from Germany,
Matthias

Went through SEL/GMP twice (LAX-SEL-CJU and LAX-SEL) when I've been over there. Haven't made it to ICN yet though, as a pax. Was able to take a tour when it was still under construction about 2 years ago which was pretty cool. GMP was ok, but nothing spectacular, like was mentioned above, rather run-down.
On both trips went to CJU. Again, nice but not great. Loved Jeju Island though, very nice, except the weather crapped out on us at the end of the trip (one of those typhoon things... Big grin).
Do hope I get to go back again, sometime.

Regards,
Tom

Have been to SEL a couple of times - unfortunately the observation deck seems to be closed now! ICN - once, great looking airport - very modern and "airy".

I transited through ICN once last summer while flying SIN-ICN-SFO . Very nice place, airy and beautiful, with a nice view of the tarmac and runway. I couldn't muster the intestinal fortitude to try out some kimchi as well.

I've been in ICN:
AMS-ICN-AMS with KL (2001)
BKK-ICN-BKK with TG (2002)

And then in CJU:
SEL-CJU-SEL with OZ (2002)

From SEL to PUS once:
SEL-PUS-SEL with KE (2001)

ICN is definetely one of the best and nicest airports where I've been!

Greetings,
Blueskies

I have landed just once at Kimpo (BRU-AMS-SEL) in 2000. As soon as the 744 broke through the (very low) cloud base, came the runway in sight. My first impression of Korea was then of being stunned when seeing the various military equipment / artillery set up near the runway. That made it clear enough to me that the cold war between North and South Korea was still very real. The North Korean border is just 50 miles North of Seoul, I believe.

Interesting. Do you speak Hangulmal to your lady?
I wish my wife would serve me kimchi every day.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Spent a few months in Korea a few years ago. I flew KE

YVR - SEL
SEL - HKG
HKG-SEL
SEL - YVR

And last year stopped at Incheon on a SIN - YVR routing on Singapore Airlines.

I liked the viewing area that Kimpo has, but got told by the police to stop taking pictures

I haven't been there yet but do hope to transit there on my way to MNL via Philippine Airlines soon! I have heard lots about the airport and the city.
Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!

Here are my flight in, out, and within Korea.
LAX-SEL -Asiana
LAX-SEL -Asiana
LAX-SEL -Asiana
LAX-SEL -Asiana
LAX-SEL -Korean Air
LAX-SEL -Korean Air
SEL-CJU -Asiana
CJU-PUS -Asiana
LAX-ICN -Asiana

Both Pusan and Cheju-do airports are pretty old. I like Incheon the best; with transparent-green jetways a simple interior.

The flights within Korea on Asiana are much better than the International flights. They pass out candy, bread, drinks, and they also give kids an Asiana Dart board. I asked for one, they gave me one.  Laugh out loud
