TWA Flt 847

Fri May 03, 2002 12:30 am

Seeking the tail number (NXXX?) of the TWA 727 which was hi-jacked in 1985. Flt 847 I believe.

The reg number on the hijacked 727 was actually N64339. I made the same mistake when I reported on the final revenue flight of the TWA 727's (MSY to STL) in September of 2002. The flight was operated by the hijacked 727.

"Jet Liner Production List Boeing Volume 1" does not list an N54339,and Bill Harms' website confirms that.

Is the aircraft still flying as part of AA's Fleet?
Thanks for the info. --JaO

The aircraft never flew for AA (none of TWA's 727's did). It was retired by TWA on October 1, 2000, and sent to storage at Victorville, California. It was sold to Aeroturbine in August of 2001.
