BA 777's At SFO

Sat May 04, 2002 8:34 am

Spotted at SFO today was a BA 777. Checking the schedules, it appears that BA has switched one of it's 2 daily SFO-LHR 747-400 flights to a 777.

BA 285 arrive SFO 1:35pm
BA 284 depart SFO 4:45pm

Yeah i noticed this too. Probably due to a downturn in pax levels.

I find it strange that BA is flying the 777-200ER to SFO. I doubt it'll last especially with the summer tourist season starting within the next few weeks, so expect BA to fly two 747-400 flights a day to SFO by June 2002.

There was a post earlier on about SFO. Apparently, it has been the worst airport to recover from 9/11. Maybe that's why BA have downgraded one daily flight to the B777.

Ray,

In checking OAG.com, the 777's are scheduled to SFO through OCT 2, then both flights switch back to B747-400.

And correction to my original post, it is the later flight that is the 777:

BA#287 AR SFO 16:00
BA#286 LV SFO 18:35

Besides UA and now BA using the 777-200ER flying international flights to SFO, three other airlines do it now: KE on the ICN-SFO-ICN flight, NH on the NRT-SFO-NRT flight and AF on the CDG-SFO-CDG flight currently.

I expect later this year SQ will switch the SIN-ICN-SFO-ICN-SIN roundtrip from the A340-300X to the 772ER.

Does Asiana fly 744 on the other days? I remember seeing Asiana 744s at SFO, but that was last year.
Last time I was spotting at SFO the ANA flight was a 744 (it was a sunday).
SQ is supposed to change the 340 to 777 service soon.
There are also about a million United 777's to SFO (exageration). I don't think there is any other airline flying 777s there, other than what has been mentioned.

Yes I forgot about the Aeroflot 777....3 times a week I believe.

As for Asiana, they used to fly the 744 3 days a week and the 744 3 days a week, but when I checked the schedules the other day, the flights were only 4 days a week all with the 777.

I was at SFO International terminal last Sunday (28 April) and there was an OZ 744 there. Can't remember the reg though. Interesting, it was parked up away from the gates behind where VS and BA come in, does it have a long lay over?

There were 2 BA 744's on that day too.
