Estafeta

Sun May 05, 2002 10:36 pm

Well, the mods didn't like my last attempt, so I'll be more verbose this time around.

Estafeta is a new Mexican cargo airline flying 737s. What is the meaning of their name in English?

To keep the gods that be happy, I'll ask a few more questions aobut them. Where do they operate to? Any plans for a/c bigger than the B737?

Thanks!

Estafeta means "courier" in English.

Estafeta is a mexican courier service that has been in the market for quite a long time. They used to concentrate on the domestic courier service (most of it by land) and had partnerships with international courier services for international packages. They are the leading domestic courier service in Mexico covering almost every city.

The new product of Estafeta is "Estafeta Carga Aérea". They started flying very small planes one or two years ago, and for 2002 they leased three B732C's to handle the air cargo and started flying to the United States.

To answer your questions:

They operate flight to many Mexican Airports. The most common airports served are: MEX, SLP, TIJ, CDJ, MID, HMO, MZT, CUU and MTY.

They started operations to MIA and will increase destinations in the USA in the following months.

For the moment they will stick to the B732C, since it is the new adquisition, but we can see in the future some B727C or even bigger airliners.

As Thomas_Jeager said, the word estafeta in spanish can be translated as courier, but has other meanings.

You can say that they’re Mexico’s answer to Fed Ex, UPS, and DHL, which have been increasing their operations in the country.

They are trying to establish their distribution center in a small colonial city strategically located in the mid part of the country.

I got the pictures from the spanish version, the english version is up, but the section where pics are located is being updated.

Hello everyone....

Well just to add some more information, their main hub it's the city of SAN LUIS POTOSI (SLP), hubicated in the center of the country. As Rojo mention they primarly concentrate to delivered mailed by land.

And about their fleet Estafeta operate near 12 cargo Sabreliner's plus the 3 B737s. And seems they are growing hard.

And it's NOT a NEW MEXICAN CARGO AIRLINE. Don't know exactly when they started their operations but we can tell maybe in 1996 or before with their Sabreliner's.
