Boeing And Airbus Workers

Tue May 07, 2002 4:41 pm

I read somewhere that 30.000 workers had to go at Boeing in 2001. Is this correct? Are there any similar numbers for Airbus? Also - how many do the two manufacturers employ? Thanks.

The job losses at each company depend on the country in which they exist.....in the press, it has been confirmed that Boeing have to let go 30,000, with a small more to come......Airbus on the other hand, already had plans to ramp up production, so all they did was to cancel this......hence an empty brand new hanger in Hamburg.....in terms of other layoff's, Airbus does not actually have to lay off staff, they are reducing staff working time in most cases, along with other methods of time reduction......the exception is the UK, where labour laws do not allow this, and some lay-off's have to take place.......
