Spirit is unvieling thier new look tomorrow in Ft. Lauderdale, but an early look appeared in today's Miami Herald. Today Spirit, one of only four US airlines to be profitable in 2002, launches new service between Detroit and Denver, Miami/Ft. Lauderdale and Denver, and San Juan and Orlando. The new look is a very modern and surprisingly pleasant. It's a "digital" checkerboard blue design, with fading colours of blue that turn into white. The letter "S" is in a red checkerboard box.
While I'm not crazy about it for aesthetic reasons, it is distinctive and a major improvement over the old livery. Much better than what a lot of those European charter companies are coming up with these days.
For some reason it reminds me a little of some of the JetBlue tails. Just the checkered look & that it is blue I guess, I know its not that close to it.
It looks very computerized & pixely. Can't say that I'm too fond of it, I like the idea but personally I think it would look better without the strong stairstep design of the dark blue against the white. It seems to jagged. Just my opinion.
It's probably the first truly original livery idea since the Sun Country 737-800 livery. Thank the right person upstairs it's not the wet leaser look that seems to have been all the fad of the last 30 years.
WOW, that is great, i was expecting something like their 10th aniversary scheme, which was colorful but ugly if you ask me. This is something very new and very original. If you ask me, it looks amazing! It's about time someone breaks with tradition!
Finally something different in the skies now. Yes there's still a lot of white, but it's been done so well. Very classy. No more of those stupid wavy lines that have invaded the British charter carriers!
