United 777

Sat May 11, 2002 2:11 am

I know some may already have this info but to those like me who just found out here it is,
Today UNITED AIRLINES announced that it would dedicate a BOEING 777 to the 18 employee's who were killed in the sep.11 hijackings.
Aircraft number 2825 has been sitting in seattle since december.the aircraft was waiting for seats and video equipment.this airplane will make it's first flight today,it will start ORD-FRA.
The aircraft has now been named "SPIRIT OF UNITED"
When the employees of boeing found out UNITED was going to rename the plane for the employee's,"they took it apon themselves to repaint the name on the plane in record time and FREE of charge to UNITED AIRLINES.a quote from jack creighton

what a nice thing to do for our fallen brothers and sister of united airlines.

This is a very nice gesture by boeing, a truly great company. And so the sep 11th victims can certainly be honoured in some style! What better way than a 777?

I had wondered how it got to FRA as I wrote my own thread on this. But the Skynet posting was mostly for employees to go see it as it came to ORD for the first time.
A little less Hooah, and a little more Dooah.

Nice gesture!

Another question (sorry, it is a little bit off topic):
Are there any plans to switch to the 777 on their ORD-MUC flights? After 9/11 they reduced the capacity and went back from the 777 they used before to the 767.
