I'd say Star Alliance.
Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!

@Sk945: No, Varig was not a founder of Star Alliance, they became member about one year after foundation.

I might be being subjective, but don't they all seem to be the "flag" carriers of their nations? I say "flag" because they have the most widespread international destinations- more than other airlines from their home country.
