Colin Powell: What Kind Of A/C To The Nato Meeting

Tue May 14, 2002 1:57 am

Colin Powell will be coming to Iceland tonight to take part in NATO's two day Foreign Ministers Meetings which will start in Reykjavik tomorrow. Does anyone know which aircraft (what type) he will be travelling with? What about the collaborators? Will it be worth it to go to the airport and take some photos?

Doesnt the Secy of State usually fly in one of the USAF's VIP 757-200 aircraft, especially when travelling long-range?

I would put more money on a C-20 (a Gulfstream III) or a C-37 (Gulfstream V)

The C-32 (757-200) is usually used by the Vice President although I wouldnt rule it out for Powell to use that...let me know which one it is...either way its still a cool sight, Ive seen the C-32 before but havent seen either of the Gulfstreams of the USAF...

Secretary Powell will probably travel to Iceland on one of 4 C-32's (757-200). Very distinctive paint jobs.

I don't know what a/c he's going to be flying, but I know it's going to be a Military one.  Big grin

Here is a picture that was taken when Colin Powell arrived tonight. Can anyone recognise the aircraft from the picture?

How is that, will the aircraft be parked at Keflavik (KEF) while Powell stays here, or will it go somewhere else in the meantime?

I'm curious to know why would they choose a B757 as a diplomatic aircraft instead of a B767. Anybody?

It is the DC9. As far as I know the 757 does not have those built-in stairs and the plane in Asgeirs' picture looks too big for a Gulfstream
