El Al - Can't Book More Than 2 Days In Advance?

Tue May 14, 2002 11:34 pm

I just checked El Al's website and it said that you cannot book seats more than 2 days before the flight. Is this really true? It seems a bit strange if it is.
I used to think the brain is the most fascinating part of my body. But, hey, who is telling me that?

Might be that you can't be assigned a specific seat more than 2 days in advance.

No, it was actually when I was trying to get a quote on a fare, and the booking engine stated that it wouldn't accept reservations more than 2 days before the departure day of the outward flight!

Maybe it's part of their stringent security, along with the passenger interviews on every flight.
Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!

the e-ticketing seems not to be over-developed... You can for instance only buy tickets from very few destinations.

Besides...El-Al's website is far from being up-to-date...it announces the end of First class, but this decision has been cancelled already several months ago...

I think you may have this backwards - I just tried making a test booking for June and it didn't raise any errors. Are you sure you weren't trying to make a booking for LESS than 2 days in advance? Most booking engines won't let you do that...

And for all of you who think the website is out of date........you are right.
ELAL's new web site will be online very soon...probably by the end of this month.

Hi ELD! How are you?

I'm looking forward to see the new site...This one is really a flop! Boring and inaccurate in most fields...

LOL LY772  Big thumbs up

TWA - I am going on business. I went last year too. It's always a real event going to Israel on business. Anywhere else and I can just arrange everything a couple of weeks in advance, but for obvious reasons things are a bit more complicated in Israel and more planning is needed.

I'm looking forward to it though (especially the food  Big thumbs up). I'm not sure how paranoid I will feel about safety though.

What I am not looking forward to is immigration. I was born in Abu Dhabi in the UAE, and this is always one sticking point, but now I have two flatmates who are both Iraqi. I know they will ask me who lives in the same apartment, and where they are from etc. I reckon I will be in Ben Gurion immigration for an hour at least.....
