It's "MidEx", a contraction of the names.

Yep it's MidEx but don't know why. Maybe TT737FO(DC-9CAPT) can shed some some more light on this subject. Skyway's call sign is "Skyex", but who knows why.

Yes, just like Federal Express is FedEx, a short form of the two words...simple.
What's another word for thesaurus?

FedEx is actually a DBA/brand name. Federal Express is still the certificate holder and official company name, so I suppose you could view it as a similar contraction. However, before the "name change," FedEx flights used "Express" on the radio.
