Codeshare

Wed May 15, 2002 9:26 am

I was just browsing through my local airport's arrivals and departures schedules for the day and was struck with the thought - Imagine just how many variety of airliners we would see here if it wasn't for all that business about codeshare? Man, I would love to be able to go spotting to see all those different airlines flying in and out of YYZ. All the cool (and not so cool) liveries gracing the terminals of what is suppose to be this bigtime world class city we live in, instead of the over abundance of bluey/greenish tails with a splotch of red paint, on an all white fuselage.

Just be glad that you get to see lots of aircraft Tony....Look at YUL they are soooo underserved they don't see much!!!

I agree with you totaly, but its good in a way, if you are a traveler, you can get to more destinations using one airline, did i tell you that the flight that i was on to miami was a code share with United and Mexicana. AC took us there but it was cool to be on United and Mexicana flight XXX, i think it was like AC916 or some 900 series flight (btw 7:00am weekday flight)

I'd love to see ANA, Air New Zealand, Air Jamaica, Qantas, SAS and Lan Chile. The list goes on and on.....

I like British Airways! I'm not sure why, but I do! ;-)

When Canadian was bought by AC, QANTAS started flying the entire trip to YVR, and it was great seeing the kangaroo, but that didn't last long. It didn't make much sense for them to do all the flying.

Without codeshare I don't think every single airline would fly to every aiprort. As the word it already says, "share". For many airports there are just not enough passengers that every single airline could fly into this city. Thats why airlines "share" one plane to bring people there and simply to save money.

This helps that airlines can exist and to have a precence via a partner airline...

Most probaply all this airlines which offer codeshares into your airport (doens't matter which) wouldn't fly anyway there, exept on codeshare...
