The Aviation Museum At Sydney, Australia

Mon May 20, 2002 1:25 pm

Hey!

I heard that Sydney has an Aviation Museum. And they will soon display an ex-QF B 747-200. Can anyone confirm this?

Can we actually get into the aircraft?

Also, where is it?

Is this the place you mean? Just found it on Google; looks like fun, but I don't see any 747s...

The 742 will be going to the Longreach museum donated by Qantas.

Longreach is over 1300klm from Sydney in Western Queensland. It is here that the B747-200 from QF will eventually end up. In all probability you will be able to get inside the aircraft when it is eventually displayed.

Temora is 600klm South of Sydney, and looks after mainly ex military aircraft in flying condition.

There was discussion about a museum at BAnkstown Airport, but the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (who operate the Connie) are relocating to the South Coast of NSW, again over 100klm out of Sydney.
