Transjet In BIG Trouble?

Tue May 21, 2002 5:38 am

Has anyone in the UK noticed just how badly Transjet seem to be performing their charter services from/to the UK the past few days?

I know for a fact that a hell of a lot of their flying programme is being subbed to other airlines such as Excel and Titan, have also heard of multiple technical failures/emergency landings - any truth?

Anyone got any info as to the status/state of their operation?

Anyone flown with them?

I heard they had an emergency landing at Corfu today. An MD-83 on flight S9 706 in flight from Corfu to Bristol had to return to the airport due to problems with one of the engines.

OK NG737PSR.

Im sure those kind of comments you made about Transjet brings back many memories of when you were at Sabre Airways on that 727......i think that says quite alot.Excel have come a long way from the days of sabre but management isnt exactly brilliant with the witches of eastwick in that office (oh i am sorry).

Yes we have had a s**t week with problems left right and centre but there is now light at the end of the tunnel. The so called tech failure are purely minor (stupid things) like a light bulb gone etc etc.Yes there was a emerg landing the other day but all was well....sabre had many e/l and 24hr delays.
Being a little short of crew doesnt help either but within the next week or so...that will be sorted out.

Alot of people are slagging us off and saying its sabre all over again...its not.
We may have a few teething problems but its a damm sight better to work for than excel...believe me.Too much hair gel today...pulled into the office and given a mouthfull from cruella.

Its alot more relaxed and friendly here without management breathing down your neck 24/7.

Dont knock it NG737PSR as you once had these problems at sabre and i remeber the 1st day of op at excel 01may01. Plan a 767 flt to santorini when the largest aircraft it can take is a 757...what funny planning you have.

Anyway...less of the bitching.I've had my say and just want people to give it a bit of a chance...it will sort itself out.

Don't get above your post NG737PSR as one day...the people you meet on the way up will be the ones you meet on the way down.

Excel are doing well and have a good product but remeber where you came from and try to keep rooted.

Many thx

Can i also just add to the above that Transjet Airways AB are actually operating the flights on behalf of Excel because Excel dont have the crew or aircraft to operate them....they took on more work thatn they can handle.
Ok, so we have the leftovers...but i think that the type of operation we have...thats the sort of work that we pick up on.

We have a really busy summer ahead of us and our 747-200's that we have also have alot of work planned for them and then we will sure enough disappear in the winter to do the hadj flights...which i have been told that its going to be a busy winter too.

Sorry to put everyone in their place like this...but all the aircraft have a busy schedule planned for them.

Many thx

Do you know were the 747:s would fly during the summer? I know they will fly between ARN and Athens and ARN to Malaga on weekends. But what other routes will they fly?

Transjet flights out of NCL seem to be operating normally and on time.

It looks like TransJet will fill the gap left by British World??

I hope so. I went for interviews with Excel and I am glad to say that I walked. They were rood and very snotty - like they were too good for anybody at the recruitment day to work for them. Their application forms and Crew Information leaflets were very harshly worded. Not a very friendly airline to the employees from what I gathered on that day - and I would rather keep my Training Officer job in an office which I hate than work for someone who doesn't not respect their staff.

Grumble over!!!

Sam.

True...they don't respect their staff.
They speak to you like children...the atmosphere in the office can be so intense...you could cut the atmosphere with a knife.
They can be very harsh and ive known many people to be in tears.
They are trying to be something their not...Listen Excel....your charter...not BA.

Im sorry to say...but i prefered it when it was sabre airways.

Sorry

SBE727, I don't honestly think my observation justified that vitriolic rant. I shaln't throw my toys out of the cot over it, suffice to say that I have the experience and maturity to deal with your tirade of remarks re: Excel.
It's because of experience previously the interest was expressed.

I used to actually like flying with you, and I'm actually suprised at that "getting above my post - meeting people on the way down" blurb. Cheers for that.

I really would like to know what has really made you so bitter - I don't think you have been through anything that I haven't in my 15yrs plus during your 2yrs or so.

I wish you and your newly found employer great success, and only hope that you manage to get your attitude in check before in my humble experience it will ultimately cause you further problems later on down the line and perhaps possibly be your downfall.

No airline is absolutely perfect, and I guess about 10yrs or so down your career path you may come to the same conclusion.

Thanyou GKirk for stating that we can actually manage to get a flight away on time.

NG737PSR.
I was merely stating that you too came from a company like Transjet and not to slag it off as you once had the same problems.

The comments i made about Excel and the bitching may have been a little over the top but was only speaking the truth.

Sorry if i caused any undue upset.

Many thx

No problems, BTW what kind of trips you been doing?, have you done any on the B747 yet - you know one of them has quite a pedigree being the first 747-238B for QANTAS back in 1971.

Honestly no hard feelings, have fun on them!

The 747 should be fun..they are old but sometimes that makes it more interesting.
The 747 work at the moment is operated by the sweedish crew as they work on a freelance basis and quite often the 747 will originate from sweeden.
There is many exciting trips comming up like japan, the africa contract down to Gabon from paris and there is strong possibility of a contract out of dubai for a quite a few weeks (i think about 7wks).

As we are so busy in the uk at the moment with the MD83 work its very hard for us to switch over to the 747 work although we are trained on both types of aircraft.

Hope the above helps

many thx
