Air Holland 757 At MAN

Tue May 21, 2002 5:39 am

I arrived back at MAN on Saturday morning about 0700. while on the courtesy coach coming out of T2 I saw an Air Holland 757 in the new colours. It was parked on a remote stand at the far side of T2 (not T1 end) facing towards the terminal building.

Anyone know what it was doing there?

It's an ex-Britannia 757 (G-BYAR) which is being prepared for lease to Air Holland, thought it would have been delivered by now - but it looks like it's still @ MAN

According newspaper "De Telegraaf" Air holland is in financial troubles and has givin' back the lease 752-plane to Britannia: it was the first plane in new Air holland colours (though without grey belly) and was painted at Maastricht Aachen Airport, rolled out paintshop at 11 April 2002, stood there for more than a month before return to Britannia. The Air France Boeing 767-300 which would have been leased to Air holland for 6 years has been delayed. In the meantime Belgium's VG Airlines has already operated flights for Air holland. The owner of Air holland says that there is a financial rescueplan underway. Air holland flies just 1 Boeing 757-200 for the moment.

I also saw it there on Saturday. Looking back through my photos its in the background parked all on its own. I also noticed the Monarch DC-10 (G-DMCA) has been moved from the remote end of Terminal 2, anyone know where its gone?

Creditors have indeed demanded the plane be returned since Air Holland is incapable of paying either the lease nor the parking fees at MAA.
Very sad, they've been destroyed AGAIN by open hostility from Dutch civil aviation authorities (as ordered by KLM) who delayed the approval for Dutch registration of the aircraft long enough that the airline could not afford it anymore. The 767 parked at CDG is also being returned to the lease company (that one even before delivery as it didn't even get permission to be flown to MAA for painting).
I wish I were flying
