Probably options, not orders. Delta currently only has the 738 on order, and plenty of options. However, options are interchangeable within a family, so if Delta has 100 738's on option, they can redeem those options for any other 737NG, such as the 736.

DL is not going to get teh 736 due to the fact they do not have a niche for it. Considering they are doing well with the 732H(hushkitted) on the DLX routes. They also are happy with the 738. And as with the options they are always changed to mmet the needs of the airline.

I don't think they will keep the 732Hush and MD-80s forever, the 736 and 73G could replace them in a few years.

Actually, I'm surprised that Delta's hung on to the 732's as long as they have, given that they fly some fairly long hauls with DLX, the improved economy of the 736 would seem to be worth it for them. Admittedly, I don't know the cost of new aircraft, but, still, typically, the trends seem to be that low-bypass machines are falling to the wayside.

Southwest still has 732's, yes, but they are largely confined to flying from DAL on fairly short lines where their poorer economics don't stand out so much.

I doubt that Delta introduce the hushkitted in the 737-200 Advanced. Those aircraft will be replaced by new Boeing 737NG. I hope that for Delta Express, Delta introduce the Boeing 737-600 but I heard that the aircraft for delta Express will be the 737-700. For the MD-88, Delta will replace it with the Boeing 737-800.

Wait!! I got a best idea as for new B737-900 with a much longer more people go onboard with the new airplanes. This is best way to be replace from MD-88 to B737-900 aircraft. It like between 150-170 people on that new B737-900 aircraft. It is very good new airplanes as for Delta. Let please have a orders new B737-900. Let do that as for right now!!

Something I meant to add to my other post before I posted it- if they dont have the hushkits on them, how do they get around the noise restrictions?

All of the 737-200 have hushkits. Delta has no 737-600 on order. We have actually slowed buying the new 800.

Why on earth would DL buy the 736 when the 73G is about the same cost and has the **** SAME **** operating costs???

SegmentKing: The same costs per seat-mile or the same cost per trip?

I would have thought that the 736, being smaller and lighter, would have lower costs per trip (which, if you only need the smaller capacity works better).

If anyone's got any kind of breakdown on the costs of the different versions of 737 that'd be cool!

The reason that DL might have 736 options is that they are cheaper to cancel. I have also read that one leasing company, can't remember which one, had a lot of options for 736, but they will most likely all be changed in to other 737NG a/c.

It's the same reason the 735 wasn't purchased by whords of airlines. The 735 has the same engines and fuel burn as the 733, and is only lighter by minimal weights... same with the 736. Why buy a 736 when it would cost just as much to fly as a 73G??

It's like the MD 87 vs MD 80.... same engines, same wing, same cockpit, just smaller cabin. That doesn't necessarily mean lower costs...

Personally, I think that the Delta Express flying will shift to 737-300s. The 737-300 has better economics on short haul high cycle flying than the 737NG. 737-700s could replace the -300s on mainline routes, and allow for new service.

ok here ya go, i dont know how to make this clickabe but this is the page or visit www.delta.com click "inside delta" then click corperate information, then click fleet and look at orders any one of those seven on order 737s could be ethier a 600 700 or 800 because like was mentioned earlier in this forum they can change NG orders to any of the models and the 600 is a possiblity!

Instead of going for the 737-600, can't Delta transfer their 737-300s over to Express to replace the 200 models?

As GOT has said, 737-600 options are the cheapest - you purchase the option by paying a percentage of the negotiated price and if you can reserve the right to change the option for a larger (i.e. more expensive) aircraft at a later stage, the smartest thing to do is to take out options for the B737-600 - even if you never inted to operate this sub-type at all.
