"World Of Tui" Has Your Opinion Changed?

Sat May 25, 2002 10:57 pm

I remember when Hapag Lloyd and Britannia first unveiled their new livery how the reactions were... Checked the guestbook of the HLF website on that day over 100 people had written into it complaining about how ugly the new livery is and that they will never fly with them again if they keep the new livery.

It's now been a while since the rebrand of the airlines belonging to TUI and the new livery is now a often seen picture on airports in Europe. No "World of TUI" airline has gone bankrupt because of the "ugly livery"...

What do you now think about the new livery?

I for myself can say that after at first also hating to see the "Korean Air livery" flood our airports I now really prefer it over the older liveries.
Is it only me?

I still strongly dislike it. Seeing it in reality made things worse for me.

Normally, its a rule in design not to have red print on a blue background. That's also the main thing I don't like about it.

It's pretty dismal. But I think I dislike the Easyjet livery even more strongly.

I prefer the old HF and BY colours. Both airlines lost their own identity with launching a similar livery. Yesterday I had luck because a HF 738 in the old livery passed my office window during its climb out to a holiday destination.

You´re watching the planes again, Patrick?  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
I was on this season´s inaugural HF flight into DTM, it was the old livery as well. But thank God there were already new sickbags on board for my collection.

Hi Daniel!

You´re watching the planes again, Patrick?

Ah.......it was during the break.  Big grin

Do the new sickbags look like the new livery? If yes I am sure that a lot of them will be filled up but not because of airsickness.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I think the designers must have had a competition to see who could have the sh!test idea for a livery!
I think that a livery reflecting the fact that the companies are from different parts of Europe would have been perfect (eg a livery that represents a united Europe).

I have come to like the use of the bright blue fuselage.
However, combined with the red script and the very childish TUI-logo on the fin, BY and HF now remind me of some sort of "TELETUBBIE AIRLINE".
I think it is a shame that there are no design elements, which care for the two very different brand identitities of the main "World of TUI" airlines, i.e. "Hapag-Lloyd", the name of the world-famous shipping-company, and "Britannia" the oldest charter airline with its very British name.

No. I think it's still cheap, tacky and wholly representative of a cheap and trying to be cheerful charter company.

No thank you!

World of TUI is still the ugliest livery in the skies.

I disliked e.g. BMI at first as well, but now I like it, same with several others; but the new Hapag-Lloyd, Britannia and NEOS look is still ugly as ugly can be. Second is Swiss, but more for the boredom...

Cheers,

Tom

"Position number two to the Britannia, errrm, the TUI, errrrm the blue 767 "

"Errrrrm, we can't actually see the aircraft."

Blue airplane + blue sky = nightmare to see airplane :-(
So I drive a 4x4. So what?! Tax the a$$ off me for it...oh, you already have... :-(

What did I miss. I just came home (to Sweden) from a week at Son San Juan
(what normal people would refer to as a week on Mallorca) and I noticed
that Britannia and Hapag Lloyd now have the same livery.
Have those two companys become one or what. And what is TUI?
I saw a 737-700 with TUI on its tail but I believe the aircraft belongs
to Germania.
Thankful for any information about this.

there are two bad things about the TUI livery:

1. The blue color looks a bit tacky.

2. The TUI logo on the tail looks like a water closet (as the British call toilets).

Now Britannia has changed its livery, would it be possible for a new Airline to use the tail logo- Queen Budica (excuse my spelling) as their logo?????

Best regards

I agree with you, Godbless. At first, I didn't like the new livery very much. But having seen several Hapag-Lloyd planes in new colours at the airport I have to say that it looks much better on original planes than just on pictures.
