How Would You Know Which Runway Is Used?

Mon May 27, 2002 7:16 am

I was wondering, is there is like a hotline that you can call to know what runway are they using so that you can decide whether to go spotting or not or when you are traveling. i am talking about national, dulles or Baltmiore, as DCA, IAD and BWI

Get a scanner and keep it tuned to the tower frequencies at those airports...

I always listen to it before heading out for spotting... However, they may change it as soon as you arrive at the airport...  Sad

DCA: 703-419-3917
IAD: 703-471-7127

I can't find the ATIS for BWI, but their ASOS is 410-691-1278

Anybody know how to get the active runway info at PIT. I can't seem to find a number to call to get the ATIS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you can also try for the 'old' fashioned "from-which-direction-the-wind-is-blowing" trick.... but it doesn't always work....
