Different A340 @ YYZ Mon. Morn.

Mon May 27, 2002 10:58 pm

I was passing by T2 this morning at YYZ when i say an A340 with a blue tail and blue winglets. Was wondering if someone has any insight to what airline it belonged to.

Thanks guys and gals

It could be the 2nd Air Jamaica A340 ready for delivery. I saw the first one just before delivery and it was also parked at a T2 gate.

There is also a Saudi MD-11 parked on the de-icing pad today, but its kinda hard to mistake an MD11 for an A340...You sure it wasnt the Star Alliance airplane?

Just talk to someone who saw it, it was an Algerian A340, and Saudi MD11 both at the De-icing pad.

Hey Slawko,
Are Algerian and Saudi starting routes to Toronto? Or were they just diversions from some other airport?

Khalifa leased (or subleased) 1 or 2 of their current 333's from SSV (or took over the lease). That might explain why Khalifa would be in YYZ. Other than that, neither Egyptair, Khalifa or Saudi has started skeds to YYZ. Saudi Arabian is seen in YYZ perhaps once or twice per year on a charter.
I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Does anyone know when Saudi will be leaving? I thought I might go and catch a glimpse of it taking off.
