The first delivery seems to be scheduled for September.

I think the A330's will be flying to North America. They will then switch the A340's back to their Asian operations and slowly get rid of the 767's. Does anyone know how much longer they plan on operating the 767's?

SAS has not ordered enough A340/330's to replace all the 767's. So unless they plan to cut several routes, a few 767's will remain in service for several years.

According to the SASflightOPS site, the first A330 is scheduled to arrive in august 2002! But maybe the delivery has been moved to September as Scorpio says, but strange if they haven't changed the information on their flightops site.

The A330's will only be used on transatlantic routes, their range is too short to operate to Asia. Remember that SAS still holds 6 options for A330/A340, that they probably will use.
Where have you got September from Scorpio? I really hope that SAS flightops is true so that I can catch the A330 before the school starts again in late August.

How many A330 did SAS order? And how much A340's?

When the original order came in November -99, it was for 6 A340-300 and 4 A330-300 plus 7 option for either a/c. Since then, one of the option has become a seventh A340.

I hope that someone corrects me if I'm wrong but didn't SAS order 6 A340's and 4 A330's from the beginning. They then transferred one of the A330 orders to an A340 order. A few months later they then transferred one of their options into a firm order for one A330.

As GOT said they still have 6 options left. I hope (and think) that they will transfer these options into firm orders. If they are going to start the route from Copenhagen to San Francisco and perhaps reinstate the route from Oslo to Newark in the future they will need more A330's or A340's if they are going to get rid of their B767's.

Thanks. And what will SAS do with the remaining 6 options. Buy A330 or A340 or mixed?
