Possible UA767 At Lga?

Tue May 28, 2002 7:27 am

I'm probably wrong about this but today I was at Shea Stadium taking in a Mets game today and as many of you know its right under the LGA departure path sometimes. At 3:23 PM offical time (Stadiums) a United flew over my head, and the body and noise it made, led me to belive it was a 767. Anyone know about this?

767's fly into LGA all the time. What's so unusual about that? In fact, Delta's 767-400ER's fly in there as well.

United doesn't fly out of LGA with the 767 anymore (they used to, I remember seeing one at LGA twelve years ago, it was probably coming from Denver), neither does American (they used to, ten years ago there was a DFW-LGA flight on the 767, a 200) only Delta flies the 767 out of LGA, both the 200 and 300 series, and it's the only widebody still seen today at LGA. I don't think TWA ever flew the 767 out of LGA. I know US Air never did.

These airlines operate the following aircraft types out of LGA as far as I know:
American: B737-800, B757, MD-80
American Eagle: Embraer 135
Air Canada: A319
Continental: MD-80 and B737 (don't know which series)
Delta: B737-800, B757, B767, MD-80
Delta Shuttle: B737-800 (used to be 727)
Delta Connection: Saab 340
Northwest: A320, B757, DC-9
Spirit: MD-80
United: A320, B737-300, B757
United Express: J41
US Airways, A319/A320, B737-300/400
US Airways Express: Embraer 145, Saab 340
US Airways Shuttle: A319/A320 (used to be 727)

What defunct airlines used to fly out of LGA in the 80's and early 90's:
Braniff: B727
Eastern: B727, B757
Midway: DC-9
Pan Am: B727 (shuttle to BOS and DCA only)
Piedmont: B737-200, F28
Trump: B727
TWA: B727, L-1011
TW Express: Beech 1900

It is needless to say (and off-topic I know) that all the major airlines still existing I mentioned above have, for a very long time, operated the 727 out of LGA until recently. I know La Guardia pretty well.

Edits to the list:
United: A319, B735 (and they have had some 763s in LGA recently as last minute swaps out of ORD, and as extra segments when weather cancels a lot of flights)
UAX / ACA: FRJ (this summer), CRJs
American: Fokker F100s
American Eagle: ERJ 145, Saab 340 (no longer in schedule I believe)
Air Canada: CRJ, DC-9, A320 (sometimes), and rarely a 737-200
USAirways and Delta: B737-200
ATA brings in 737-800s, 757-200s and a 727 when one of those other planes breaks down
DL Connection has tons of FRJs and CRJs out of LGA
Midwest Express is a mix of their entire fleet

It was an A320, or 757 more than likely. No 767s into LGA.
727, L1011, MD80, A300, 777-200, 737-300, 737-700, 747-400, 757-200, 737-800, A320. E190, E135, 767-200, CRJ9

Edits to the list:

1. AA's Saab 340 don't fly to LGA anymore because AA is promoting all-jet service.

2. Delta never operated 737-200s into LGA

3. CO never operated Md-80s to LGA, the 737s are -300,-700,-800 and rarely -500s

4. AC don't have DC-9 anymore SegmentKing!

5. ATA do have 757-300 flights into LGA

6. Finally CO-express have Beechcraft 1900D operated to LGA from/to upstate New York. These flights are introduced recently (equipement change?)

CO did operate the MD-80 into LGA. Right now, most flights are either with the 733, 738, or occasional 735.
