CI Failed To Join Skyteam By The End Of 2002

As I earlier mentioned that Delta has postponed the code-share deal with China Airlines, which is a big blow to China Airlines.

However, on today's UDN News, it's New York correspondent reported that, according to Wall Street Journal, this latest China Airlines crash has forced Delta/Air France-led Skyteam Alliance to shut down its door on China Airlines, which CI is expected to become the 7th member by the end of 2002.

Now, why didn't me and everyone know that CI is preparing to joing Skyteam?

If CI was planning on joining Skyteam, then it is a shame that things had to work out this way. I would like to see CI try to improve safety and build a good reputation. Then they could try again to join Skyteam. Tiawan would be an excellent connecting point from the US West coast where DL is weak. You could connect all over Southeast Asia and even possibly go to Australia and New Zealand.

Just a couple of reminders..... the cause of the CI crash has not been determined and Delta and CI mutually decided to delay the start of the code-share. Delta has said that the codeshare will happen, just not now.
