I would like to second that. Mac_veteran sprang to my mind when I heard this terrible news.

What a coincidence!
I e-mailed him Saturday, as I noticed he has been absent for a long time in this forum. But, no news yet...

Thanks a bunch for the kind words!

We just got our internet back online here but I have to keep communication short as there are many powerful aftershocks we've been experiencing here. The initial jolt was incredible. Last for what seemed to be 3-5 minutes followed by a 6.1 5 minutes later..then another 5 minutes..another 6.1..followed not long after by a 6.4! For around 45 minutes nothing but a constant movement under the house here. I'm located about 5 miles NE of Tainan City (and we also are sitting atop a fault line-not the one involved in this one though thankfully, but anytime we get a temblor it seems to be more noticeable when you are near one)

The scene just north of me is one of mass destruction. The cities of Taichung and Nantou are the ones most seriously hit, Taichung has several large apartment buildings collapsed. It's horrible.

Got the family out of the house after the first aftershock then camped out inthe car for a bit.

1700 people are dead from what the media is saying, 3800 injured, 2000 are trapped inhouses and apartments.

I must go as it's shaking again here.

Best Regards
MAC_Vet

I'm glad MAC_Vet is o.k. I wouldn't know what to do without him occasionally telling me I was full of crap or me telling him he's wrong about something. Mac Vet, you certainly add color to this forum and I'm glad you're o.k. so we can carry on our friendly disagreements in the future. Same goes for your family and friends. I sincerely hope everyone is o.k. and get's whatever help they need.

Yesterday when I posted the previous reply I didn't know about any earthquake! Just some hours later that I watched to The Journal and I heard about it.

Anyway, I'm happy to see that you are (at the measure of the possible) o.k. I hope to listen from you and see topics with your name signed pretty soon. I go with Navion: your presence is notable in this forum!

Best Regards,
