What Airline Does Carnival Cruises Use?

Thu May 30, 2002 7:25 am

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what airline I will fly between EWR and MIA this summer. I am on a cruise with Carnival Cruise Lines that departs from Miami. They are flying us to Miami from Newark. Is there a specific airline that they use?

I'm not sure, but if they were smart they would book you on CO as you would have a non-stop flight.

Should have gone on Princess, but they will book you on the cheapest probably.. which might end up being Continental. Don't expect much for your flight, and your cruise since it's on Carnival. :

Well, the cruise is being paid for by my best friends parents. I'm sure I'll have a good time! Still anyone know what airline or equipment?

the cruise lines have bulk rates with all the airlines, so you could end up on Southwest, Spirit, Continental, United, almost anyone..

One time the cruise line stuck my uncle on Midwest Express (he was going from Wisconsin to MIA).

Damn YX's cattle car service (all humor intended).

Well, till now P&O Princess does not belong to the Carnival Cruise Group but CCG has decided to fire on Royal Carribean´s bid for P&O Princess cruises with a counter offer. Don´t know how it will develop but I´m quite sure that - even though Carnival´s bid is higher - the deal won´t pass the trade offices in both Washington and Brussels due to Carnival already owning Costa Crociere, Cunard Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn and Windstar. Pretty large group, especially when you know how many ships are currently on order and under construction...

But RCCL isn´t bad either, I know that they own Celebrity Cruises and have at least 4+2 ships under construction plus more for Celebrity Cruises.

But I don´t think any of these big companies will ever try to enter the airline market, Carnival´s failed attempt has shown all of them that this is not their core business and it is all too risky to invested millions next to billions already needed for the ships (fr those who don´t have a clue what one large cruise liner costs: its in the area of 400-700 mio US$ per frame, delivery time around 24 months).

Be careful with these prices, you will never know how much it is really. I´ve heard prices going up to 0.75-0.8 bn US$. The "Radiance of the Seas"-Class ("Brilliance of the Seas" will make its voyage down the river Ems in about 2 weeks, I assume as always you´ll have about 100.000 spotters there) goes for around 600 Mio US$. Anyway, quite a chunk of money... but really worth ever cent. A few years ago I had the chance for a private tour around the main dock of the Meyer-Werft, Germany, when the "Galaxy"-Class was under construction. Extremly impressive when you´re on floor zero and there is a large hull rising 60 meters high into the hall...

Flying-Tiger,

I thought that Constellation was Celebrity's last ship for a while...am I incorrect?As for RCI:

Radiance Class: Brilliance of The Seas(not too long now),Serenade of The Seas(not sure when it will be ready),and one unnamed vessel for this class (Glamour of The Seas would be a good name).

Voyager class ships: Navigator of The Seas(January,2003)

Please tell me about what is happening at Celebrity,

my RCI / Celebrity rep said the new ships average $640 mil a pop and they told us on our FAM trip on the Voyager that it cost about $685 mil, but it's hard to put an exact price on it due to the currency fluctuations and that the ship is paid for over a period of time...

anyway, still a HUGE amount of money...

The Norwegian Dawn (?) is suppose to have 2 13,000 square foot PENTHOUSES on top of the ship that include a privage jacuzzi, garden, patio, grand piano, in-room butler, etc.... how about that? :P

Greetings:

I've taken three Carnival Cruises and all have been great! As far as Airlines it all depends on the deals they get. My first cruise I flew down on Delta and came back Us Air. My second cruise they flew us on TWA, and my third cruise they flew us on American. My friend took a RCCL cruise last year and they flew him down on UPS, yes I said UPS (United Parcel Service). UPS Apparently does charter service.

As for some of the above comments about Carnival, they provide the same cruise experience as RCCL. Carnival caters to a wide range of customers from young to old. My three cruises on Carnival were fantastic and Carnival lives up to their slogan "Carnival's got the fun". Their service was outstanding and Carnival has made me a very loyal customer. My next cruise in August is abroad their new Carnival Spirit. What ship are you going on? I've been on the Carnival Destiny, Fascination, and Inspiration. You'll have a great time.

Thanx
Tom

Carnival has the reputation of being budget compared to the likes of Princess, Celebrity, Disney, etc. But thats what makes them so popular (not so expensive).

Not to mention their safety record. The news stations around JAX were really ragging on them awhile ago when a couple of their ships caught fire.

Carnival Airlines merged with Pan Am 2, and then Pan Am 2 went belly up.

The financially stricken Carnival Airlines was bought out by Pan Am II in '97 (and was one of the primary reasons for the collapse of of PAII).

I´ve Celebrity with these liners:
* Horizon, Zenith
* Galaxy, Mercury, Century
* Millenium, Summit, Constellation, Infinity

Carnival has these:
* Celebration, Holiday, Jubilee
* Ecstasy, Elation, Fantasy, Inspiration, Fascination, Paradise, Imagination, Sensation
* Carnival Destiny, Triumh, Victory
* Carnival Pride, Legend, Sprit
* Carnival Conquest (Carnival Glory under construction, delivery 2003)

They have at least two additional ships on order, contract has just been signed a few days ago. They are build in Italy as far as I know.

Back to the original question: If you fly into MIA, chances are good that you will fly AA. If you fly into FLL, then CO is probably the likely choice. But, as mentioned before, it could be just about any airline.
