PIA Board Of Directors Meeting Summary

Thu May 30, 2002 6:29 pm

- The national carrier registered a record seat utilisation during the quarter, which rose to 61.6 percent in March, which was unprecedented in the airline's history.

- The reservation system has been significantly improved as a result of drastic measures adopted by the management. The main feature of this success had been that there was no overbooking and no 'denied' booking occurred during the period under review.

- The Board also approved acquisition of six Boeing 747-300 aircraft from Cathay Pacific. Five of these aircraft are already on lease with PIA. The cost-effective purchase of these six aircraft will increase profitability and help improve image of the national carrier, the Board observed.

- The upgradation plan for A310 to enhance passenger comfort by changing seats, providing in-seat video-systems, PTV's and to improve the interior decor which would improve the product.

Sooo no news on upgrading the fleet? (ie 777 or A340)
I like British Airways! I'm not sure why, but I do! ;-)
