Khalifa A330 In YYZ Today

Sat Jun 01, 2002 6:48 am

Hi folks. One of the A330's that Skyservice leased to Khalifa was parked over by the North end Esso Avitat today. I asked some folks in management at SSV what it was doing there, but there was no comment other than " It's here already!" Did anyone else see it today?

Could it be here for maintenance? or could it be back for good? Did we get new routes that we don’t know about yet? It’s amazing that this has been kept so hush-hush around the office and on the line. Maybe Russ has finally decided to expand the international market left high and dry by C3. I don’t want to guess what we could do with it because I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself. Been there, done that. I’ll believe it when I hear the final boarding call.  Smile If anyone knows “real” facts as to what the aircraft is doing here, please let us all know.

Regards,
Roots Boy Smile

Actually, it was a Khalifa A340, not one of the SSV machines.

Are you sure about it being a 340? Have I gone blind, I thought 340's had 4 engines? And why did the SSV Mangement act like they were expecting it? Just curious? I actually saw it as I was a passenger on My Travel arriving from LGW. We went right past it as we pulled into gate C32 at Terminal 3. I was seated on the right side so I got a good look at it. The fella seated in front of me was looking at it through his binoculars and also commented that it was a 330. Maybe we had too much wine during the flight!

It was the A330. One of our flight attendants called me today asking me if I had any idea why RAE was in YYZ. or did he say RAV? anyways, point is, it was a "C" reg a/c and it was an A330.....an ex Roots Air A330.

sure about the A-330 being ex-Roots?
These are all ex-LTU birds. I even remember seeing one of them with canadian registration (C-FRAY) but full Khalifa colors at Dusseldorf about an year ago. Originally destined for Roots, Roots never took over this bird and it was supposed to be sold to Khalifa...but well...after sitting on the apron for about a month, it was ferried in unknown direction, apparently NOT to enter service with Khalifa

Hi,
it was a A340. RAV is in Dublin and RAE is Algeria. Actually its flying today. Whatever you saw, it was not one of Skyservice A330 s.

Here is a simple question. How many engines did it have?
Two or four???? That will answer the question....

I have a good friend who works in ground ops for Skyservice, and he was involved in arranging the handling and slots for the aircraft into YQB and then YYZ. It was definitely an A340.

4 on a 340 and 2 on a 330. We could have been viewing it from the angle that may have caused us to think it was a 330; we were looking out of an aircraft window and spotted it as we were turning off the active runway.
So, it is a 340 eh? Mystrey is what is it doing here? Hmmmmmmmm...... I'm flying in the morning so I'll try to do a little fishing. If anyone else knows, let us know. Thanks.

I thought I saw a photo of it on the database yesterday. It was a side view of it ready to take off. The photo was labled as an A340 and it definately looked like one too.
