Long Beach Says No To AS - Tells AA Only Until 1/6

Long Beach has told Alaska Airlines that they will not be given any slots for the service scheduled to start in Sept. The city feels that giving AS slots on Sept 9 that will go to JetBlue on Oct 9 makes no sense, especially since AS has no other service at LGB at this time.
Meantime, LGB has sent a slot lease agreement to AA. In the agreement, AA is getting the use of 4 temporary slots only until Jan 6, when it appears that JB will add service.

What?!?!? What is this happended with AS want go to LGB slots and it say no to AS. This is due to the slots into Long Beach, CA airport. And when is start first Jetblue want give up more slots to the new cities at OAK, SLC, and LAS flight. This is will have to fifth flight to JFK on October 2002. I knew that as for all the information as for myself. Isn't that was correct one? Please let me know if you guys know do something. Thanks!!

Now what do you suppose will happen when 1/6 rolls around and with AA in place, the fun that LGB is going to have serving AA with "eviction" papers.
You know exactly how this is going to work out....AA is going to stall it in court over some legal technicality, and en essence achieve a de facto long term permanent presence.
What was LGB thinking when they allowed these "temporary" slots?

Regarding Alaska, I wonder if they might consider letting Horizon operate the route with regional jets.

I was going to suggest the same thing LoneStarMike. LGB has a cap of 25 Regional slots, correct? I think that route would be more effective instead of using an MD80 which would be hard to fill once jetBlue finalizes plans to SEA and PDX.

So JetBlue is going to use those 4 slots on January 6?
Anyone have any idea where they will be used to?
My guess is SEA and DEN.

I dont think that AS is really interested in RJ slots, their main focus, like AA, is to block the slots for Jetblue.
AS & especially AA seem to totally freak out at the prospect of Jetblue in LGB.
AA is offering triple miles on the flights LGB-JFK
Seems like AA is trying to pull the same thing they did at DAL killing Legend Airlines.

FLL-LGB, 07Jan03. I'm almost certain of it. DEN and SEA are likely, and so is a reduction of OAK flights. BOS is a possiblity, but with AA being kicked out, I think ORD has a good chance.

What is funny is that this same thing happened back in the '80s
JetAmerica started as an outfit who flew out of LGB with MD-80s with some success with routes like ORD and DFW. AA got MD-80s later and started flying out of LGB too. After a while, JetAmerica became unstable and was merged with Alaska.
Alaska stopped flying to LGB and AA pulled out because there was no longer a hugh demand (the demand was a result from the low fares JetAmerica published).

Well, From what I can see in this LGB situation. jetBlue is gonna kick some ass. I cannot wait until January 6. I want to read the news when AA gets "eviction" notices too. AA f***ed with Legend and shut them down. But they ought to know not to mess with jetBlue. Same goes to jetBlue. They shouldn't go to fast or they are bound to slip in one of AA's traps.
