Farnborough 2002

Sun Jun 02, 2002 12:26 pm

Hey Guys,
Can anyone tell me, is Farnborough worth going to?? I am a big commercial aviation buff and love the airlines and commercial airliners. I live in Canada and just want to Farnborough worth going to if you have the chance?? I just want to know what to expect...i have been to the website but not much is there. The "aircraft on display" don't look all that exciting. Anybody got any info on this show?? Does the Concorde make an appearence?? Any other commercial airliners?? Can you get lots of good aircraft models and other aviation related stuff at the show?? Any information you can give would be awsome.

Hey There,
From what I understand, well my uncle sets up the show at Farnborough, and from what I have heard and seen it is well worth going to. I have video tape from previous airshows there and they are nothing but spectacular. I am an aviation buff like yourself and I say go for it, I know I would.

I went to FI 2000.

As a purely "commercial" aviation buff, you will probably be disappointed. Civil a/c on display are in the minority (in terms of Boeings and Airbus a/c), and there isn't really much in the way of airline-related's mostly a an "aerospace" show, so really ANYTHING that flies in the air is relevant to this I said, civil aviation/airliners are only a relatively small part of this show.

The air displays are quite interesting, especially if you enjoy non-civilian a/c demos.

Have a think about it; but if it's only airliners you're interested in, you're probably not going to enjoy it that much. If however, you enjoy seeing all sorts of a/c on display, and in the air, it is worth visiting.

I went a few years ago and the only airliners I saw were Concorde and a LH A340, but it did a flying desplay so I was more than happy! Appart from that it was all military....
