Duxford Accident

Mon Jun 03, 2002 12:09 am

An aircraft is reported to have crashed onto the M11 motorway killing one crew member. The two-seater jet trainer was landing at Duxford airfield in Cambridgeshire when it skidded onto the motorway and ended up across the central reservation. Fortunately, there were no vehicles in that area on that stretch of the motorway at that time. It was an L39 - an eastern bloc jet equivalent to the Hawk. This type of jet featured in the opening sequence of the James Bond film, Tomorrow Never Dies.

Very lucky that there was no cars involved esp so as its a bank holiday weekend, this incident could had been allot worse.
