Seems unlikely that the route economics would ever be there... There's little Canadian connection to the Middle East and although probably some population base in Canada, not enough to justify competing with flights that already connect through the UK.

Cheers.

Emirates will operate to YYZ. The date is not fixed yet but 2004 at the earliest.
Don't know about QR - the residential expert QatarAirways will inform us.

Can't see western asian airlines flying to YVR. Possibly YYZ, but as previous post mentioned not much demand.

Hello Ibizajet A330,

Canada will probably be served in a later date. In the first phase Qatar Airways want to fly to the US and then expand to other North American destinations. I think QR chose a later date than EK to start North American flights because they want to see how EK do in the market

These flights are not aimed at Middle Eastern people. They are actually aimed at connecting passengers to-and-from South [East] Asia, so I think because of the size of this market Qatar Airways and Emirates will not have many problems once they are well established in the US and Canada. IIRC EK even plans to send the A380s to Canada and the US in the future.
