I got 7 out of 11, not bad but could do better. The fuel capacity and wing span was my undoing.

Not to be picky, but I believe the max. Fuel capacity for the 747-400 is 57,285gal., and for the 747-400ER, its 63,705.

Regards.

eh... 6 of 11. If the max range is 7200 mi, then why can SAA fly 8400 and QF fly 7500?

I Think There's A Mistake

Mon Jun 03, 2002 10:07 am

The quiz doesn't seem to have the correct gross weight. I know it is 870,000 lbs or 396,000 kg. Neither of these were choices so I picked the highest one which was 405 tons (which isn't enough). Any comments on this seeming error?

Yes, I skipped the MTOW question all together because I figured that it was asking the wieght in Metric tons and I don't know my metric tons!! Other than that, I was 8-10 on the rest.

10 out of 11. It was that Maximum Fuel Capacity question that got me.

I got a pitiful 8 out of 11. I guess I should keep focusing on the DC-10 (my pride and joy).

4 out of 11. Very bad to know so little about my favorite aircraft, but...
...I got some only wrong because of the imperial system. Why didn´t you use the more common (and for all Americans and Brits: its indeed easier) metric system for your questions?

6/11, very disappointing, BUT, 2 questions have nothing to do with the B744 (the B737-400 and the tail picture) and how much a 1US Gallon is (in kg or lbs)? (And anyway a B744 fuel unit is kg or lbs).

I have a book that says a B744 MTOW is 875,000 lbs / 396,400 kg.

About the distance question someone asked, if you take less pax or cargo you will be able to fly farther with maximum fuel load.

Long live the B747

Unfortunately I'm not too familiar with the technical specifications of the 747, so I had to guess some of the answers! I obtained a meager 5/11. The last question asking you to identify what airline's colour scheme is displayed was interesting & caught me off guard, as I was expecting another question on the 747, but at least I got that one correct.  Smile

You got 63.636363636364 Right.

Uhh, I think it was the LDV and the MTOW that got me  Sad

I got 5 of 11. Piss poor. But I think they are wrong about the fuel capacity of the -ER. The current 744 holds 57K gallons and change. Also the MTOW answers seems incorrect also.

I got 9 out of 11. I missed only the question:

"Which other boeing aircraft rolled out for the first time on this day?"

When I re-did the test, and got everything right, it still said 10 out of 11, after a few more trys, still the same.

Weird.
