Sun Jun 09, 2002 12:48 am

What kind of job would you hold? What airline would it be with and why? Where in the world and city would it be in?

Let's hear some great ones!

My dream job would be the founder and CEO of my own airline. The company itself would be based out of Atlanta. More than likely it would be a charter airline, providing ACMI flights to airlines and charter services for vacation companies, sports teams, and businesses.

My dream job is being an airline pilot. I plan on applying to the Scandinavian Aviation Academy pilot school in Bromma, Sweden in about a year. After that I would want to fly for SAS in Sweden.

For me it would have to be flight planner/scheduler to develop new routes and assign aircraft, etc or as CEO à la Gord Bethune at Continental so that I could also be a part-time first officer. Ahhh, to dream.  Smile

That is kind of like Don Bell at Westjet. He is the VP of customer service, one of the 4 men who founded the airline, and he also is a captain on the 737. That is a job I would love to have.

I've always thought route control was pretty nifty.

They're the department that decide how many seats in each booking
class to assign to each flight, how much to overbook it by, whether
to confirm waitlists. They also control much of the seating.

TG992, yep me too. I would also like to be involved with fleet selection, or a flight dispatcher. Eventually I will be, though it is a very hard thing to move into I'd imagine.

Head of Personnel. Specifically, interviewing and selecting flight attendants, female division.

Alternatively, Head of Entertainment and Morale. I would open a bar for the airline employees called "The TowBar". The greeter would ask each employee what time he/she is due back on duty and then post his/her ETD up on a TV.

My dream job would be flight engineer, but unfortunately I'm born too late, as this job is almost gone...(at least here in Europe). But my actual job is my "second choice" dremjob, so no need to complain...  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Excellent...

Just kidding. I'm a little surprised that more of you didn't have pilot aspirations, or at least serious ones. This is just fine with me, because it makes for less competition for a flying job.

My dream job: Well, I'm already a pilot. But a good job would be getting payed to be a pilot. And my dream job would be getting payed enough money for being a pilot to support a family and buy a house.

Base: Anywhere with a preponderance of golf courses.

My dream job right now is to be a F/A at Delta. Why not a Pilot? I don't have the money for private training, and I do not want to join the airforce for training (if I could even become a pilot there) so the next best thing- a f/a since I would still be in the air, just not at the controls.

I have my dream job now as a flight attendant for American. It doesn't get any better for me, I get to go to great places on a monthly basis, I can work as little or as much as I want, I pick the days I want to work and best of all I get to work with some great people. I love the flexibility it gives me, if I decide tomorrow I want to go to Australia for a month I can, I call the trip trade service, drop my trips, pack my bags and passport and away I go, of course there has to be an empty seat for me but that's part of the flexiblilty of the job!

My dream job would be the following :

Still doing my job (Software engineer with a lot of business travel Big grin), but succeeding in making my boss understand that paying 800$ to go to Rome in less than 1h30 is really uneconomical, so the company should offer me a PPL, get a deal with the local aero-club, and let me fly the business travellers for the company. Just a dream, maybe one day it'll come true.

How about an anonymous traveller, getting to paid to fly for free all over the country under cover, ratting out unprofessional flight attendants, bad food, bad service, ect, to management.

Director "corporate identity design"-affairs at KLM's new no-frill airline (merge between KLM Uk's BUZZ and Transavia's BASIQ). Nice job, nice challenge: creating, conducting and maintaining the new logo, livery and total corporate identity design. Preferably at Eindhoven Airport.
